Why I am doing this

So I've finally given in to the peer pressure surrounding me. And by peer pressure surrounding me, I mean Sungjae, Andrew Wang, Joe Lee, and the Women's book club. Plus I'm bored, it's 1 am and I can't sleep, and I figure it's about time to unleash my thoughts to an unsuspecting public deserving(Or maybe undeserving....) of my random thoughts.

So what's the purpose? Why such a strange blog name? Does Johnny in fact have anything clever to say? Does he really look like JYP?

Lets start with the first question. The purpose of this blog is actually the result of an observation that I saw with most Christian blog sites. They are jampacked with great discussion and debate, filled with great ways on how to live Christian lives. Sermons from great preachers, articles from great writers, and observations on the general world that have obviously come from intensive research, diligent study of the word, and a thrist for knowledge.

There is absolutely no way I could compete with that. Don't get me wrong...I enjoy doing all of the aforementioned activities. But to use a basketball analogy, Moses' and the Women's book club blog are probably Lebron James and Kobe Bryant around the inner circle of friends. Me? I'm probably Michael Olawakandi....the greatest 1 round draft bust in the history of the NBA. So no way that I could think to be as philsophically, spiritually intellectually stimulating-ly, challenginly---and other words that end with -ly ---- as they.

Instead, I'll use another outlet that I hope could supplement the great things that my regional bros and sisters are doing.

So I thought to myself....... in great conversational lengths....

Humorous Self: Why not have a dedicated Christian blog that focuses on the lighter side?

Skeptical Self: What do you mean?

Humorous Self: Clean humor......clever observations, pop culture satire, and just something to make others laugh and smile with their faith.

Skeptical Self: It'll never work...

Humorous Self: Wait a minute.....why are you writing it off so quickly?

Skeptical Self: A humorous Christian blog? C'mon that's GOTTA be some kind of joke. Are you even funny?

Humorous Self: Well (Checking ego at the door) I've been told that I can be funny at times....

Skeptical Self: Dude, they're only saying that to get you to stop talking...

Humorous Self: (Stammering)I....I...I mean, it wouldn't even have to be writing funny things....it could just be videos that are clean and devoid of gross or vulgar language. Or maybe funny writings that encourage other believers. Or just funny happenings around different churches. Or clean jokes that are just fun.

Skeptical Self: Do you even have a biblical basis for this? I mean, isn't humor like Satan's tool for destruction?

Humorous Self: Well there's this passage in Proverbs 17:22 (KJV) that talks about having a merry heart being good medicine....and also just the themes of joy in the bible. I mean it's not completely airtight, but I do want to believe that believers should have joy in their relationship with Christ, right?

Skeptical Self: Will we see any of Sungjae's corny jokes?

Humorous Self: Not at least until we run out of ideas

Skeptical Self: Deal.

(End Scene)

Soooooo that's the goal.....I have no idea if I will reach anybody, or even make anybody laugh for the sake of it, but at least I will have ventured out and tried, right?

So with that, I would like to share with you one of my favorite videos. I know many of you have seen it, but I thought it would be appropriate to start off with a child's laughter. The same joy that I hope we can all have in this Christian life as we glorify God together.

With great joy,

Johnny

Side note - I hope my baby will laugh like that. I'd be a joyful mother.

  7. You said peer pressure led you to this, and my name is in the list. That means I am your peer. That means I am near your age, closer to 25 than 30. I am happy. ^_________________^ The medicinal value of this website is taking effect already!
